Heat Treating
The International Standard for a Phytosanitary Measure "Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade" (ISPM 15) was adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.

It is now for each country and trading bloc to decide upon implementation measures, and the indications are that most major trading nations will have regulations based on ISPM 15 in place within the next few years. Most countries are already requiring compliance for shipments received by them.

The approved measures include Heat Treatment of wood packaging, which requires that NEW and RECYCLED wood be heated to a minimum core temperature of 133 degrees for a minimum of 30 minutes OR Fumigation using Methyl Bromide to the relevant specification.

BTL Pallet is only one of a handful of companies in the area with an approved Heat Treatment Chamber on site to comply with these requirements. Once the heat treatment process is completed, each pallet is stamped with our assigned Heat Treatment Stamp issued by Package Research Laboratories, a national company responsible for auditing this process. This stamp identifies BTL Pallet as the company who completed the heat treatment. This stamp will allow your product to be shipped anywhere in the world and be in compliance with ISPM 15.
